Our Team
Andy is a Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Michigan Medicine and the founder of MCRISP. His research focuses on the early learning population in the areas of infectious disease, injury prevention, and disaster preparedness. Andy also serves as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Early Childhood Champion for the state of Michigan and has substantial experience working with and training local and state early learning coalitions. He is also an executive committee member on the AAP’s Council of Early Childhood and co-chair of the Early Care and Education Subcommittee to help ensure that all children are able to access high quality early care and education programs.
Andrew Hashikawa, MD, MPH, FAAP
Emily Martin, PhD, MPH
Emily is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Her work seeks to build a greater understanding of the epidemiology of viral respiratory diseases using molecular epidemiology methods. Through characterizing existing and new interventions to prevent transmission and severe disease, her research aims to identify strategies to reduce infections, particularly in individuals with chronic comorbidities, in hospital environments, and in child care settings.
Khalil Chedid, MD, PhD
Khalil is an epidemiologist in the Michigan Center for Respiratory Virus Research and Response at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. His previous work investigated the transmission and acquisition of multidrug resistant organisms in hospital and community settings. Currently, Khalil is researching the transmission of respiratory viruses in child care and potential interventions to mitigate their spread.
Michael Hayashi, PhD, MPH
Michael is a computational epidemiologist and modeler. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology. His research uses mathematical and computational tools to understand the mechanisms of disease transmission with a focus on the interaction between human behavior and disease processes. Current projects include understanding the transmission of respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases in child care settings. Michael is also actively interested in the development and application of computational methods for public health research and practice.
William Gribbin, MS
Will is an Internal Medicine Resident at Indiana University. They started working on the MCRISP team while they were a medical student at University of Michigan Medical School. Will is most interested in the intersection of technology and medicine, including virtual and augmented reality, medical education, and data visualization. Will plays a central role in optimizing MCRISP's visual element design and ensuring the MCRISP interface remains simple and intuitive for its users.
Jakob Rodseth
Jakob is a Software Engineer and a technical advisor for MCRISP. In addition to his industry experience building services and leading teams at startups and Fortune 500 companies, he has a background in medical and clinical software development and research.
